Convert Live Photos to still images

(Updated: )

CleanMy®Phone helps you free up storage space on your iPhone or iPad by turning Live Photos into regular still images. The app grabs the Live Photo freeze frame provided by the Photos app and saves it in place of the original HEIC file.

  1. On the tab bar, tap Organize.

  2. In the Optimize Media section, tap Turn Live to Still.

You'll see a list of all your Live Photos.

    Tip

Photos are sorted by date (newest first) by default. To change the sort order (by size or by date), hide or show file sizes and types, or change the layout of the file list, tap the More button in the upper-right corner and choose your options.

  3. Select up to 100 photos to convert at a time, then tap Convert and wait for the process to complete—keep the app open until it finishes.

    Tip

Tap a photo to preview it full screen, view its metadata, or share it.

  4. When conversion finishes, you'll see the results screen.

    • If you converted multiple files, swipe horizontally to review them.

    • Tap Continue to replace originals with converted versions.

After you confirm deletion of the original files, they'll be moved to the Recently Deleted album in Photos. (If you need to restore them, find out how.) New still images will be saved to your photo library.

    • Tap Cancel Conversion to discard new still-image files and keep the original Live Photos.

Great! You've just reclaimed extra storage space with minimal effort.
